CARING FOR YOUR WIG

Whether you have chosen human hair, synthetic hair or one of our other hair loss solutions, below you will find information of the best way to take care of your hairpiece to prolong its life and keep it looking fabulous.

Care Instructions for Human Hair

A wig or hairpiece made of human hair is a particularly high-quality piece of craftsmanship. Human hair is generally more robust and durable than synthetic hair. With the right care you will enjoy your human hair model for a long time. Here at Escape Hair Loss Clinic we mainly use ‘Remy’ human hair. With this high-quality human hair, the direction of growth is taken into account during processing. Human hair can be thermo-formed and therefore offers many styling variations. For cleaning, use only the optimised care products, such as Human Hair Shampoo range. Conventional care products, such as those used for natural hair, are not suitable for wigs or hairpieces.

How often should the Human Hair be cleaned?

How often you should clean your wig or hairpiece of human hair depends very much on the intensity of use. Regular cleaning will increase the life of the wigs and preserve its silky natural shine. Our recommendation for daily, average use is to clean the hair about once or twice a week. Adjust the frequency according to everyday activity.

Step-by-Step Instructions for Cleaning Human Hair

  • Place the wig or hairpiece made of human hair on a styrofoam head (you can fix the wig or hairpiece with a pin however, avoid large pins that might damage the monofilament or the lace front).
  • Before washing, comb the hair with a soft brush with rounded bristles and carefully remove any knots. If there are any human hair styling products left in the hair, the wig shampoo will by itself dissolve them in the following wash.
  • Now moisten the human hair of the wig or hairpiece by holding it under running, lukewarm water in the direction of fall – from the roots to the tips. Please do not place the model in a water bath.
  • Take a hazelnut-sized amount of Human Hair Shampoo and gently rub it in from the roots to the tips. Please do not apply pressure when massaging in.
  • Rinse Human Hair Shampoo thoroughly under clear water until no shampoo residue is left.
  • Carry out a second treatment with Human Hair Balm. Take up an amount of balm about the size of a hazelnut and gently stroke it again from the base towards the tips.
  • Rinse the human hair thoroughly a second time under clear, flowing water. Carefully pat the hair dry with a towel. Please do not rub or wring strongly.
  • A special wig stand or head is ideal for air drying the human hair model. You can then style the hairpiece or wig as you wish.

Care Instructions for Prime Hair

Prime Hair is an innovative mix of human hair and natural-looking high-heat synthetic fibres. In combination, the advantages of both hair types come into play optimally. The Prime Power models are light, impress by their vivid colours, can be styled flexibly and thermo-formed. Prime Hair is used throughout the wigs and hairpieces of the Prime Power collection. Prime Hair is durable and the models stay in good shape thanks to their memory effect. For Prime Hair wigs and models you can use the product range for human hair – e.g. Human Hair Shampoo, Human Hair Balm and Human Hair Care’n Repair Care. Classic shampoos and care products for natural hair are not appropriate.

How often should the Prime Hair be cleaned?

The intensity of use is decisive for the distance between the care intervals of your wig or hair piece made of Prime Hair. Regular cleaning will increase the lifespan of the hair and preserve its silky natural shine. The proportion of human hair is decisive for the choice of care products in Prime-Hair models. Use products for human hair also for Prime Hair. Our recommendation for cleaning frequency also follows that of human hair. Wash your Prime Hair once or twice a week assuming an average daily use.

A special wig stand or head is ideal for air-drying the Prime Hair model.

Step-by-Step Instructions for Cleaning Prime Hair

  • Place the wig or hairpiece made of human hair on a styrofoam head. You can fix the hairpiece with a pin. Avoid stabbing the monofilament or the lace front.
  • Before washing, comb the hair with a soft brush with rounded bristles and carefully remove any knots. If there are any rests of styling products left in the hair, the wig shampoo will by itself dissolve them in the following wash.
  • Now moisten the Prime Hair of the wig or hairpiece by holding it under running, lukewarm water in the direction of fall – from the roots to the tips. Please do not place the model in a water bath.
  • Take a hazelnut-sized amount Human Hair Shampoo and gently rub it in from the roots to the tips. Please do not apply pressure when massaging in.
  • Rinse the Human Hair Shampoo thoroughly under clear water until no shampoo residue is left.
  • Every fourth time you finish your treatment, use the Human Hair Intensive Recovery Mask instead of the balm. This regenerates the hair and gives it moisture. Let the Recovery Mask take affect for 10 minutes then rinse the hair under lukewarm water and gently dab it off.

Care Instructions for Synthetic Hair

Wigs and hairpieces made of synthetic hair are very popular and widespread. Today, synthetic hair fibres are of such convincing quality that they can hardly be distinguished from human hair visually and haptically. Synthetic hair is available in many authentic brilliant colours. The memory effect of synthetic hair fibres ensures that the hair retains its original shape after washing. However, synthetic hair does not have the same properties as human hair, despite its optical similarity. For example, it is sensitive to heat and therefore cannot be styled with a hair dryer, curler or straightener. Synthetic hair has other needs than human hair.

How often should the Synthetic Hair be cleaned?

Also with synthetic hair, the recommended frequency of cleaning depends crucially on the intensity of use. Regular care increases the life of the synthetic wig or hairpiece and ensures that you have long lasting pleasure in it. Our recommendation for a daily average use is to clean the synthetic hair about once or twice a week.

Step-by-Step Instructions for Cleaning Synthetic Hair

  • Add a hazelnut-sized amount of Synthetic Hair Shampoo to about one litre of lukewarm water.
  • Shake the synthetic hair model gently before placing it in the water bath with the Synthetic Hair Shampoo.
  • Leave the synthetic hair wig or hairpiece in the shampoo bath for about 10 minutes. The Synthetic Hair Shampoo is self-cleaning. Please never rub or wring the hair!
  • Rinse the synthetic hair with clear, lukewarm water after about 10 minutes. Please do not rub or wring!
  • Add a little of the Synthetic Hair Balm to a new, fresh water bath and let it work for another 10 minutes. Rinse the wig or hairpiece thoroughly and let it air-dry.
  • Important: Please never rub your synthetic wig of hairpiece dry with a towel. You can, however, carefully comb them with a soft, nubbed brush. After air drying, the wig or hairpiece will return to its original shape on its own.
